Hello friends, I hope you are well ;) For the past few days I have been testing a new keyboard: the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog. To clear up any doubts straight away about what I am going to say below: this post is obviously not sponsored.
Over the past two years I have tested quite a few high-end keyboards (non-custom models) from different brands, including: Corsair, Steel Series, Razer, or Logitech. My first finding was rather alarming (for the keyboards or for me, depending on how you look at it…): while most performed very well for Gaming, work was another matter (mainly code, the GNU / Linux command line, and office work).
After a few days or even a few hours, I invariably ended up disappointed: the feel, the sound, typing errors, fatigue, my wrists heating up, and so on. I was seriously starting to consider custom keyboards.
The price of a good custom keyboard is between €600 and €1,000. The problem is not so much the price as far as I am concerned (given how much time I spend using a keyboard, it would soon pay for itself), but rather that, because of my medical condition, it would be difficult for me to try things out and work out exactly which switches, keycaps and so on I want.
Then, a few days ago, while browsing the Razer site in search of a new mouse pad, I stumble across a keyboard model I did not know: the Razer Huntsman v2 Analog. Before this discovery, my favorite Razer keyboard model was the Blackwidow, but I was not / no longer entirely happy with it.
Discovered, ordered, delivered, unboxed and tested in no time. And then: wow! The feel is simply exceptional: it had been years since I had been able to type so quickly and so easily on a keyboard without ending up with duplicate letters or errors. The feel is simply magical, exceptional, nothing like the other keyboards I own or have tried elsewhere.
The other strong point of this keyboard: its wrist rest. Never have I rested my wrists on anything so comfortable and silky. I liked the comfort of the wrist rest on my last Corsair keyboard, visible in the first photo. It already stood well apart from the others, but this is clearly in another league.
Unfortunately, there is still one thing I cannot report on: durability. Time will tell. As for everything else, I recommend it 100%.
NB: I have not tested it for Gaming, only for work.
Another small detail: the keyboard itself is not huge, because it does not have programmable keys on the side like the Corsair, for example, but the key area itself is slightly larger than on the Corsair: if you like small keys very close together, you may not like it.
PS: many of you asked about the keyboard’s sound. Since that is very subjective and takes a lot of words to describe, the short video below will give you a better idea. Personally I love it :)
To conclude, as far as I am concerned, this is approaching perfection: I recommend it 100%. And you, what is your favorite keyboard?
