It is not just fashionable: it works, and nobody can deny it.
Having a content strategy tailored to the networks where your target audience spends time, offering value, posting consistently, fine-tuning your posts with both the algorithms and your audience in mind, can really pay off.
So why don’t I do it?
A quick look back: during the summer of 2021, as I was approaching a turning point in my working life, my little YouTube channel becomes a source of new leads that generates about €15,000 / month in revenue, a trend that holds for several consecutive months.
The temptation in those moments would be to seize the opening and do everything I could to attract the biggest possible audience across the different networks.
Problem: the most important thing to me, as I have said often enough, is my freedom, and that includes what I say.
So when I do happen to publish a post that follows the rules, it is never about what I am currently selling.
Following a tailored social media strategy would have a sinister consequence: creating a direct dependency between my business and what I post on the networks.
I see too many people who suffer from not being able to express themselves freely because of the direct impact that could have on their business, condemning themselves to doing "what works", rather than what they want.
I chose a different path: building and growing a business independently of my online activity. That gives me the freedom not to be stuck with the same subject, the freedom not to follow set formats, posting times or schedules.
It also gives me freedom of opinion, on any subject. To sum up: talking about what I like, how and when I feel like it, without having to ask permission, or fearing for my revenue.
Take care of yourselves, and keep well!
