This Bash script allows you to easily install a MariaDB server (versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5) or MySQL (version 5.6, 5.7, or 8.0) on a Debian Stretch Linux server with a single command. Using it could not be simpler: you need a Debian 9 (Stretch) server with SSH access, then download the file and run it:
wget --no-check-certificate https://www.christophe-casalegno.com/tools/installsql.sh
chmod +x installsql.sh
./installsql.sh mariadb 10.4
How it works: the script takes 2 parameters: the database type (mariadb or mysql) and the version number. The combinations currently available are:
./installsql.sh mariadb 10.1
./installsql.sh mariadb 10.2
./installsql.sh mariadb 10.3
./installsql.sh mariadb 10.4
./installsql.sh mariadb 10.5
./installsql.sh mysql 5.6
./installsql.sh mysql 5.7
./installsql.sh mysql 8.0

The script is available here: installsql.sh
