Ireland was supposed to be a stop of a few months before New Zealand. I explain how two very simple encounters, people's willingness to make time and life there made us want to keep a base here. Then illness, followed by Covid, turned the rest of our plans upside down.
Our departure had absolutely nothing to do with taxes: I pay more in Ireland than in France. You can absolutely build a business and make money in France. We were fed up with certain attitudes, that culture of excuses, and we were looking for something else. I also talk about safety, and the difference it makes to walk around without constantly being on alert.
I share our practical experience: the welcome, the landscapes, the products available locally, but also the cost of my treatment and choosing insurance suited to my situation. This quality of life has a price, particularly when it comes to healthcare, and I explain the personal choices that allow us to enjoy it.
