I do not want digital sovereignty. And in this video, I explain why you should not either.
Sovereignty is a political concept that belongs to nations. Sovereignty means state control. What we need is freedom and independence: being able to change providers, migrate our applications and data, choose our technologies and practices, and withstand economic or political pressure, wherever it comes from.
I revisit the questions to ask before choosing a provider: security, reliability, quality, performance, openness, portability and reversibility. Where the service comes from remains a secondary criterion. No regulation and no flag can effectively protect your business or your data.
If I make this choice, do I remain truly free and independent? That is the question that should guide our decisions.
